I have an intact female ferret who I Jill jab when she comes into season. This year I bought two young males and was under the impression they could be neutered when both testicles had descended. I wss going to get both of the males neutered as soon as they were both both and was prepared to seperate etc whrn that happened. One doesn't have any balls yet and one appears to have only one. I have noticed today that the male with one testicle is trying to mate my female. I have now seperated them but wasnt expecting this so soon and am now concerned she could be pregnant can she be pregnant even though she was not in season? Thankyou

I'm not an expert on breeding, but I would say that the chances of her getting pregnant when not in season is pretty small. Certain hormones have to be present for eggs to be released from the ovaries and attach the the uterine wall. If you are concerned, speak to your vet. I know of cases where only testicle descended, but they can be several days apart. Speak to your vet about that as well.

Are you sure she's not in season ? some ferret come into season very early. also you sure he was trying to mate and not just show dominance, pretty similar behaviours ... grabbing the neck, pinning her down, dragging her etc.
