My ferret, oliver, tends to lean towards using potty pads when using the bathroom. He also tends to try and tear them apart, i thought i finally found a brand with strong enough material so that it doesn’t rip super easily but this morning Oliver proved my wrong and tore one right apart. I believe he may have ingested some of the absorbing material on the inside as when i woke up this morning he was throwing up (liquidy, clear/white) and has *almost* diarrhea. He seems to be doing okay now as he’s just sleeping and seems to be breathing normally, but i’m not sure if the insides of potty pads are toxic or not. I kept reading different answers online mainly surrounding dogs and can’t come to the conclusion on if I should take him to the vet. Thanks for reading any advice will help!

definitely call your vet. the chemicals are not toxic per se, but the hydrogel is designed to absorb moisture and can dehydrate the gut.

Make sure to keep him hydrated. If you give plenty water and a mineral powder, the minerals will draw moisture into the gut. Any mineral powder that doesn't have %s that are too high, and not a lot of other ingredients. You can also give activated charcoal before doing that. Activated charcoal helps with any toxins that might make him feel bad. You can find both these things easily in any pharmacy nearby. You should go to the vet, though, just in case, and give laxatives like egg yolk or even pumpkin or vaseline if you feel like it is really serious.
