I have 3 ferrets housed together that free-roam during the day time. My oldest (6yo Marshall sable mask) always has little pin-prick scabs on his chin and on his upper lips around his whiskers. I tried lightly wiping his chin w/ a cotton round and warm water (daily) and although it would clean it up a bit, it didn't seem to make any actual progress.
He was just vetted for the year and got his vaccines and bloodwork done. He had slightly elevated liver values (very mild) so we are rechecking in a few months to see if we need to start him on a liver protectant (denamarin), but otherwise he is a healthy, happy boy. He has had the scabs on his chin for over a year now, but we thought the blood was from him breaking open a mast cell tumor (since removed) that would bleed and therefore get on his face.
Has anyone else had a ferret that's chin/lips are always a wee bit scabby?

Sounds like he may have facial acne under the fur, I’ve seen it happen to cats but not ferrets. For cats, they recommend washing the area daily with a chlorhexidine gluconate solution.
