I’ve come to realize my ferret is blind. It took me a while to notice but I bought one of those cat toys thats a stick with feathers on the end and after playing with it for a while I decided the bell on it was a potential choking hazard so I removed it. After I took it off Ferrah could not track it or even realize it was in front of her at times. I don’t think she’s fully blind but close. Will the blindness get progressively worse? Is there a link between blindness and deafness? She definitely hears fine and will come over to you when her name is called but she certainly can’t see to well

Ferrets with the blaze marking are sometimes both blind and deaf, to varying degrees. Other than that marking there’s no connection I know of. Does she have any cataracts or are her eyes clear? Cataracts tend to get worse with age. Red-eyed ferrets also see less well than dark-eyed ferrets.

My little Sissy started going blind as she aged. She would almost run into walls. She was about 4.5--5.5 yrs old when i noticed. I thought it had something to do with her insulinoma, but I do not know. A vet would know if that is a possible cause but cataracts is a listed reason.
They say keep things the same ---her set up---food area and all.
Mine was not a white nor a blaze. She was a milk--mouth. Black with white fur about the mouth.
