Hello! My name is Elva and I'm new to this forum
I have two sweet little female ferrets, Juniper(born 3/1/20) and Willow(born 2/16/20).
I got them both at a petco, so they're marshall ferrets.. I didn't know much about pet store ferrets until I began diving deep into research and I wish I would've known more about where they are coming from, but I'm so glad that I'm able and willing to give my ladies the happiest life they can live.
They started out eating the nasty kibble they had from the pet store for a few months, until I felt confident enough in my raw feeding knowledge to start feeding them a new healthier diet.
This new diet primarily consisted of different flavors of Stella and Chewys freeze dried raw dinner morsels for cats. They loved it and had no issue eating this instead of their kibble.
In January, I decided to start feeding them a balanced frankenprey raw diet, and it has been so great. They are soooo much happier and healthier than I've ever seen them before. They've started to have way more energy to play even harder, they're becoming stronger and more muscular, both of them have way softer and healthier fur, and they give me extra kisses and ferret snuggles which just adds to the millions of reasons why this was so worth it.
I go to several different asian markets and pet stores to find the supplies for their diet. Never in my life did I think at age 18 I'd be standing in my kitchen cutting up a whole quail at three am to feed my ferret ladies hahaha.
I love them with my whole heart and they've been through so much with me, I would do anything to make sure they stay safe, healthy, and happy.
I have adhd and most likely autism as well, and I can't even begin to express how much these guys help regulate me and keep me going instead of giving up. Yes, at times it can be hard and overwhelming, I panic and worry they deserve a better ferrent than me who is neurotypical and doesn't make mistakes but it also teaches me how to keep pushing through while learning from mistakes + problems, which makes me feel stronger as a person. They need to eat and I'm already in the kitchen, so it motivates me to start taking care of my own needs as well. They need me to be here in order to survive, so I need to take care of myself in order to be there for them. Nothing used to make me be able to get up out of bed and start my day, and now I feel like I have some sort of a purpose for being here on this planet
