Anyone else have any ferrets that paw the ground while they eat?
I don't remember ever seeing this behavior and my 2 boys do this.

Do they paw at the ground only or also their food or mouth? Can you take a video? I've had a ferret that would dig food out before eating because she liked it that way. They also might be playing with it while they consume it. I've had a ferret do this with water, rumble.com/vcr7y5-funny-silly-ferret-steals-and-tries-to-dig-holes-in-water-bowls.htmlIf they also paw at their mouth this could be a sign of nausea and they might need a vet visit.

If they are clawing at their mouth something could be stuck in their mouth as well but both at the same time is unlikely. Maybe one of them taught the other. lol

I rescued a bunny with a bad case of scabies on his paws and he would randomly paw at the ground because of the discomfort on his foot. Maybe your ferret has discomfort or itchy feet. Check the feet to make sure he's ok. Look for things like fur loss, red spots, scabs, and things like that
If he only does it when he eats, it might just be for fun or it might mean that his mouth is bothering him a little bit, but not so much. It might mean that he doesn't like the way the kibble crunches or the texture of the type of meat. If his guns are red then that's a problem.

It's nothing bad, it's that they lift their paw up and their nails touch the side of the bowl when they eat, like taps. lol

One of my cats used to do that - I think it goes back to their instinct to bury food in the wild
Not sure about ferrets though

Speaking of pawing, Aron has a hate for crawlies. If there is a large wolf spider, cricket or roach that comes in from outside he'll chase it and scratch it to death then scoot it across the floor like a toy. lol
