My 3 yr old female Nymyra is very dependant on wynsong freeze-dried rabbit food and the past 2 months it's been increasingly difficult to find. Anyone else having this issue? And any thoughts on how I can find freeze dried rabbit else where or other raw diet options?? Before this, last year she was on the wysong dried pellet diet but she became sluggish and lost half her fur. The rabbit restored her to original health. Thank you in advance☆

This is terrible that wysong still allows this to occur. They did this once before. They changed the original ferret archetype 1 (freeze dried raw chicken or beef at the time) and they made the homogenized version that you see now in the freeze dried raw. Then they eliminated the ferret beef archetype which was a superior freeze dried raw (the original version). I have emailed them in the past to emphasize that ferrets imprint on their food and that it's REALLY hard to get them to try something new. They must be having issues with production because several of their other items are on backorder.

I've even had a hard time getting a whole rabbit for my ferret. I have to put my name on a waiting list. There is a shortage of rabbits everywhere it seems.

Eek. So far I have been able to acquire whole rabbit (from a nearby Asian market) but they have been short on quail.

I have another rabbit source if I need it but not sure if my ferret will like this rabbit source. I did get a rabbit so I will see how he likes it. So I'll have 2 sources in case of a shortage again.

If in North America, Raw Feeding Miami usually carries frozen rabbit grinds (meat/bones/organs) and they ship.

I've been able to find Stella & Chewys freeze dried rabbit and the place I get raw grinds from still carries rabbit, but my dog refuses to eat it. He's also turning up his nose at their pheasant grind. I'm sure they have had to source their meat from other places due to the pandemic.

Has your dog eaten the rabbit and pheasant grinds before from that same place? It's possible they have had to source the rabbit from another place to make the grinds especially if your dog is turning his bose up to it.

My dog eats stella and chewys rabbit (freeze dried) with no issue. I don't feed that to him normally but my ferret kit eats the freeze dried feline rabbit and I give a few of the nuggets to my dog as a treat. My dog is turning his nose up at the pheasant and rabbit grinds that I get from Raw Feeding Miami (my local raw supplier) but the owner advised that she's getting her rabbit from same supplier. My dog is an Australian Shepherd and they are extremely greedy so for him to turn his nose up only to the rabbit and pheasant is weird. He used to eat the rabbit and pheasant from Raw Feeding Miami and never an issue before the past 4 months or so. Raw Feeding Miami is great. Not blaming them. It is possible the supplier is getting the rabbit and pheasant from another source and didn't tell the owner of RFM. I don't know whether they'd have to disclose that sort of thing, not unless it's in a contract

That could be quite possible. Or maybe the food they are feeding the rabbits and pheasants now has changed. The foods the animals eat could very well change the taste of the meat once they are umm, you know, then made into food for the dogs. Fact is, something has changed.

He's totally over it now and he's back to eating both the rabbit and pheasant. I have no idea what it was.

So- it's been awhile but I thought I would update because 2 years later on Stella & Chewys & my 4 yr. Old female albino Nymyra is fully furred & healthy. I think the fact that it's whole rabbit supplements the hormones that her body doesn't produce. It's incredible & I hope to raise awareness- she started with that black spotty tail and eventually was nearly bald at 2- and now she's 100% again.
Thank you For All Your Help~☆ You guys really helped me save her!! ♡
