Is Mia drinking a huge amount of water and peeing excessively? That's also a sign of diabetes.

Sweet smelling urine and saliva is a main symptom of urine with a bad pH. It's probably too acidic. This happens a lot to ferrets with kibble, sadly. She might have small stones. Does her urine have little crystals in it? Try feeding freeze or air dried raw, or supplement something to balance the body's ph. The smell comes from too much ketones. This is also connected to sugar and and diet, just to be safe check for insulinoma

If Mia eats kibble, that would also have her drinking more water. There is very little moisture in kibble. You she is raw fed that she probably wouldn't drink as much water.
