I thawed a bag for Edmund and it was fine for the thawing period then suddenly had a strong sulfur odor.... What's the deal?
I'm guessing the whole bag needs to be tossed

It sucks, but it happens sometimes. Toss. Some meat has a natural farty scent to it though, like lamb. I’ve never opened a package of ground lamb that didn’t smell that way at any age. Not too unpleasant and never sour, though.

Not too unpleasant and never sour, though. Yea, true! I have noticed that some lamb has smelled rather farty... Anywho yea I tossed it when I got home. Bummer, not sure what happened, but oh well!

Not too unpleasant and never sour, though. Ya know, I'd never bought raw lamb before last summer when I introduced my brother's family to it, but I have had it many times in restaurants. I was really surprised at the strong smell and I had to double check the date on the package, but it cooked up fine, tho they weren't impressed. More for me. My ferrets, all of them, would only eat soups made with turkey and sometimes chicken. What kind of meat was it?
