TLDR; I need metal bowls that clamp to the side of the cage that AREN'T just metal circles you put a bowl inside that are easily popped out, because Newgirl outsmarted Oatie in how to "pull the water bowl out of the towel-nest and tip it over" which could break the bowl if it falls to the 2nd level. She's definitely more clever than Oatie, and is fueled by "OMG LET'S PLAY HOLY CRAP FREEDOM WOO" energy!
------------------- So follow-up details!
The cage Newgirl came in was.... ABYSMAL.... As noted, people around my parts of town know frick-all about ferret care, which was why I didn't want her to end up in a shelter, so I took her. She had a small crap Kaytee cage, rabbit water bottle (yes, since August,) a few shredded toys, and a chewed up hammock. And the bars were --dirty.-- It's clear she's been locked in that cage for a LONG time, because when I let her out, she FLEW across the room in a dooking spree. No exercise, whatsoever.
Coworker told me various problems with her that could be solved, all by exercise - chewing, pottying where she shouldn't, shredding and sleeping between the layers of her hammock.... a bored ferret is a DESTRUCTIVE ferret. :c Coworker just... didn't understand. So now I'm faced with a new problem.
She figured out what had previously stumped Oatie, was the non-clamp bowls I have. Oatie never needed clamped ones, since she'd tried to tug them around, but couldn't. I'd wrapped them in a towel-nest. Newgirl figured that out real quick, and yoinked it, so now I'm afraid of it falling to the 2nd floor and breaking. (First floor is for pottying!) She's still in "destructive cray-cray mode" til she's had some time to adjust and get to play.
Guys.... I can't find stainless steel clamp water bowls ANYWHERE online that A) aren't tiny for birds or B) are just wire circles you put the bowl in that she would EASILY pop out n mess with. Anyone got links and suggestions to also help her burn some energy, too? Oatie's always been simple to please - plastic water bottle? Sweet! Shoes? Awesome! Boxpile to explore? FAVORITE! I just know I can't give Newgirl anything plush, because she'll chew through.
