Any suggestions on how to go about freezing food for the ferrets? New to this. Once I open a package of meat it either needs to be cooked or given to them. So a lot of waste if I buy a package of hearts and gizzards for example. Didn’t even think about freezing. And I guess we just thaw it out before giving? Thanks!

For chunks of meat, spread them out on wax paper or in a plastic bag so that they don’t touch each other to freeze initially so that they’re all neatly separated, then gather them up into a bag in a pile to save space once hardened. For grinds or soups, pour or mash into ice cube trays, silicone ice cube trays are preferable because it’s gonna be hard to get them out of rigid ones. If you only have rigid ones you can use a butter knife as a chisel and a hammer to assist popping the meat out.
