My ferret has been super lethargic. he will eat drink and poop. i took him to the vet (3 days ago)and he got x rays and blood work. They said he has no bloackages his lungs look fine, his blood sugar is normal also no organ failure. They said he DOES have a fever and a high white blood cell count meaning he is probably fighting an infection. and ive been giving him antibiotics. he doesnt seem to be getting worse or better. his breathing is also very quick. im just worrried and need on oppinion on what this could be... also he is about 8 months old and is a marshal ferret.
also may I add his friend died about 2 months ago. When we got her she had a prolasped anus and got dewormed. her belly was always super round and i thought she might just be chubbier from the winter. but when she died she stopped eating drinking became lathergic then the next morning she was seizuering and passed away. also her rectum came out when she was seuizing.

It could be trauma and/or depression, however as he was eating I'm not so sure. I don't know what else to say, apart from the fact that Marshall ferrets tend to have many underlying health conditions. Also, is your boy fixed and, when you went to the vets, did they take a poo sample to examine?

Hi, I don't know whether your ferret has lost or even put on any weight, or if he has any other symptoms that aren't so noticeable. I would definitely suggest you get his poo sampled for common diseases and even worms. I will also give you the link to a very informative site page that explains in detail the symptoms of bacterial infections, viral infection, fungal infections e.t.c...maybe you can find his symptoms on there? www.msdvetmanual.com/exotic-and-laboratory-animals/ferrets/infectious-diseases-of-ferrets

The first thing that comes to my mind with vague symptoms and nothing obvious is heart worm, or with the anal prolapse mentioned twice, coccidiosis. Please see that a fresh fecal sample is tested, and if you haven't given regular Revolution for heartworm prevention, ask about an antigen test or either an echocardiogram or ultrasound if everything else has been ruled out.
