Rikki likes to leave his food around for drying. He doesn't stash it, he tends to leave it on the shelf with the bowl, he eats it eventually. When I remove it he seems confused a little offended. It makes it kinda hard to regulate what he's eating but he's really healthy so I don't worry. Its on my radar now because I'm adding alot of squishy meats and planning on adding the other ferrets to his cage soon and I don't want him to feel like the newbies are messing with his food curing. Has anyone else seen this? I used to feed him alot of cooked (boneless) chicken so he might just think it's closer to that. He has always prefered his beef raw and that he tends to leave in a bowl.
My ferret tends to leave a few bites of food behind and it sits there like he is saving it. I'm not really sure if he is trying to save it but it starts to smell so I take it out. When it comes to his beef, he eats all of it and doesn't save any. lol
Rikki will never eat the last of his food until the new batch comes in. I think he is worried he doesn't know when more is coming. He was so mad I cleared out his old food today though he was aggressively digging and looking I had to remove the fleece cover from his shelf. He still wouldn't stop till I gave up and grabbed a wing from the top of the garbage for him. But he ate the last piece of bison when I added his next meal. I have 3 fosters in another cage. I plan to keep one of them but ferret math... I'm worried he won't like sharing food. I've been letting them play together. Has anyone had trouble with food sharing?
