Hey all! My name is Taylor, 24, and currently living in Missouri.
I have four little ferrets right now. Slinky is champagne colored, is between 8-10 years old, and is the picture of health, thankfully. Devonne (Dev for short) is a dark brown sable, is 6 years old, and has been diagnosed with early heart failure and, recently, insulinoma. She is taking 0.03ml of Propranolol once a day for her heart and 0.05ml of Prednisolone twice a day, currently. We are still trying to figure out her dosage for the insulinoma so that her glucose level is in the normal range, and she has a checkup this week to see if we need to up the dosage a bit again. Beauregard (Beau) has a light brown mask with cream kneecaps (fav feature of his), is turning a year old in six days, and is an anxious, but healthy chonk. He gets Rescue Remedy on his paw once or twice a day to help with his anxiety. Lastly, Bonnie is a silver ferret with four mitts, is also turning a year old in six days, and is an extremely hyperactive, healthy babe. Bonnie and Beau are from the same litter, despite looking nothing alike, and their names were chosen since they both mean beautiful. I fell in love with Beau the moment I first held him because he reached up and bit my nose!
I lost a ferret in Feb. of 2017 to insulinoma. Her name was Hammy, and she was 6-8 years old. The cancer was very aggressive and progressed quickly in her, taking her in about six months. She had a seizure overnight and fell into a coma, so we had to help her cross the bridge. I still miss her every day, and having watched her go through what she did, makes me so scared for Dev.
Anyways, thanks for reading if you made it this far! I'm happy to be here to interact with all of you.
