For the past four days I've been dealing with something with Alice I've never encountered before.
One morning she was barely responsive and in a lot of pain, I didn't know what could of happened to her as there is nothing she could get into. I kept her hydrated by hand all day long and the next day she became more alert but she had no use of her right hind leg.
First thing I thought was that my mother most of stepped on her and didn't tell me, but after explaining to her that I wouldn't get angry and it's more important for me to know so I can take her to get xrays for a possible fracture she swears she didn't. Alice can't jump or climb so she couldn't cause self injury.
I gently probed her leg to see if I could find a source of the pain and I couldn't feel anything broken, but when I tried to extend it I noticed her muscle behind the leg felt shredded with a small hard knot and when I did that her front left leg started to jerk and it became unusable.
I'm completely confused to what happened, but by the end of the 2nd day she started eating again and today she has partial use of her hind leg and her front leg is almost recovered. The hind leg does not want to extent back fully as the muscle is very tight. She is able to crawl now but not walk, I carefully massage the muscle every time she gets up to potty or eat in hope of it healing.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? I owned many ferrets but this is the first time I ever saw something like this.
