Okay so I bought a whole roaster chicken with giblets to have for our dinner figuring I'd freeze the giblets for the ferrets for later when they're ready for them. This is my first time paying any REAL attention to the giblets as I had no use for them before. So my question is...what the heck do I have in here?! LOL I know the long part is obviously the neck. Is that the liver on the left and the heart on the bottom right?

Top is neck as you know Bottom right is heart Top right area is gizzard Mushy thing on the left middle is liver Bottom left I'm not 100% sure but is probably kidneys or more liver Those are the standard chicken giblets

I think you're right - liver on the left and small chicken heart on the right. I think that would be gizzard right next to the neck

LOL isn't this fun?! The part that you are calling gizzard is actually attached to the neck. Would that still apply then? Also, chicken heart is THAT small?! So how much/many hearts would I need to feed per week then, given this size? It's hard to tell from the picture, but it is about 1" long x 3/4" wide or so. Ginny could eat that up by herself no problem. So 1 per ferret per how ever many times each ferret should have it?

Clockwise from top- neck, gizzard, heart, liver Liver has a couple of lobes. One(smaller) is just a bit denser than the larger one.

If the suspected gizzard is attached to the neck, I don't think it's a gizzard. Hearts... I get pork heart which is huge. I feed what they would eat in one meal. So if Pixie eats about 2 oz a meal, she gets 2 oz of heart a week. I feed 2 meals every other week and supplement with taurine daily just to be safe.

That's not attached to the next(unless still partially frozen), and it is undoubtedly a gizzard

No it hasn't been frozen yet in this picture. It's right out of the bag in the bird. That part that people have been calling gizzards is attached to the neck. Like I said, I know nothing about chicken anatomy and have never paid that close attention to the giblets before now so I have very little clue about it.

the gizzards are in the stomach from what I understand. But that is definitely gizzard looking for sure... so ummm I'm not sure???
