Was wondering does everybody have to order a little something online to feed ferrets? I know i do as a couple of mine don't do well on chicken. I looked at duck at a Publix and they add sea salt:( although other places may not. I have done business with Farm Fresh Duck a few times who offer a lot of items off of the duck--even tongue. Do not know the nutritional value in tongue. www.farmfreshduck.com/

actually as we have a variety of different meat sources here, I don't have to order anything online

Asian markets usually have a broader selection of meat (and other neat things!)

I did find a halal market. I am going to check them out hopefully today for some goat meat. I do go to a tiny Asian market for quail but I think my boy has problems with feathered things. I will have to investigate for a larger Asian store and see what they have. Over the weekend I found some frog legs from a butcher shop next town over. The youngsters better like them. I did stock up on some salmon oil. Maybe coating with that will help if they reject them. My boy got his first taste of salmon oil the other day and shook his head---no,no no. Will have to work with him on that.

You know anyone that hunts? You could get a rabbit (freeze it to kill bacteria) and have a nice supply of meat on hand. You could get feeder mice (ferrets can have feeder bugs as well) or you can go to meat processing plants (hunters drop their hunts off at these) and often, you can get the organs/antlers/ and anything else they don't want to use from the deer.

OMG..please don't buy halal meat. The animals are tortured during slaughter.

Yikes I did not know . I did not watch video---too squeamish. Tried to watch a video on feedlot beef, and the cows mooing while walking in manure up their legs was enough for me. Thanks for the warning bandit. Will stick to lamb at grocery store. Froglegs did not go over well at all. My Phoebe did eat some of them but I had to grind them in my Bullet, put two quail eggs in, and add salmon oil. My boy totally refuses rabbit. He would rather starve i think. I guess i will have to grind and make soupies and hand feed him that.

Yeah, I 100% agree. STAY AWAY from that Hala stuff. Apologies, if I wasn't really clear in my post. I meant to say to source from anywhere that's humane. Grocery stores are great for that, and I know Whole Foods has some really great meat.

I have military members in my family, they have helped alert me to it based off time spent in Muslim countries. They were horrified. Plus some of the money is traced back to funding terrorism. I hope all goes well with your fuzzy.
