So, our three Marshall Ferret’s have been on Marshall Kibble since we’ve had them, and mostly because that’s what they had been fed. We got each at 2 months old. We’ve noticed the older they get, the more they seem to have seedy poop (off and on) and/or strange poop and we were going to start intergrating Wysong Digestive Support, starting Wednesday.
However, I keep reading that raw is best. Obviously being carnivores and all. But, my problem is this. I’ve offered chicken and a few other options (no organ meat) and no one will even try it.
How do I or what should I offer them to try and encourage a raw diet? And, should it be 100% raw, or should we still leave out kibble as well? Im fairly new to the Farent club and so I’m still learning about how to best serve their dietary needs, including what, if any supplements should be given.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m sort of at s loss for how to deal with this this area of Farenthood.
Thank you!

Hello! Usually the best way to transition is by making meat soups, mine actually skipped this stage all together so I don’t have any personal experience but check out theses links holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/the-switch/holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/raw-diet-the-meat-of-the-site/raw-soup-recipe/Try not to mix raw with kibble as it can lead to bacteria overgrowth (not good) And as for supplements stay away from the stuff directed towards ferrets at pet stores (ferret lax, ferretone, ect...) it’s packed with sugar and can lead to insulinoma! A proper raw fed ferret won’t really require supplements because they should be getting all the vitamins and nutrients they need from the meat, but salmon oil is a great natural supplement for their skin and coat, a couple squirts on their food once a week and you’re all set. Hope this helped, I’m on the bus to university so I’m sorry if it’s a little jumbled!

Thank you so much. That’s great info. Makes sense that if they are eating what they should be eating they wouldn’t need anything else to supplement. I did get some Duk soup and missed it in with their kibble and I was going to try some meat juice in the kibble to get them used to the flavor.
Great info! Thank you.

Isn’t that the truth! When they were Kits, they seemed okay. Now they just seem less entergetic and seem to gorge. Makes sense...not getting what they need out of the kibble.
Im going to read that article and start working on transition ASAP. Only the best for my nuggles!
Thanks for the info!
