Remembering Lokys
There’s a hole straight through my heart, A cavern, dark and deep. I clutch my chest, where sadness rests, I struggle just to speak.
Looking through the tears and pain, Your face I still can see. A life so bright, a beautiful light, It still amazes me.
Though you were so little, My tiny precious boy. You touched my soul with the biggest love, A once in a lifetime joy.
One day we’ll meet again my angel, This I know is true. And, till that day arrives my angel, Remember mommy will always loves you.

Thank you so much. He was my sunshine. I miss him horribly. It’s only been four days so the pain is still so fresh. This is my second angel that crossed the bridge but I was so close to him and he allowed me the previllage of loving him so deeply, his absence cuts like a knife. My first ferret, though sweet was more interested in her daddy.
i have to say, this is honestl a wonderful little community of supportive Ferants. Everyone has been so supportive and welcoming ❤️

So sorry to hear about your loss- losing a pet is a lot harder than many people seem to assume.
Thankfully I haven't dealt with losing a ferret yet, but I have lost two dogs. I remember being a freshmen in high school when I lost my first dog, honestly the grief felt comparable to what I'd felt when elderly human relatives passed away but I was too ashamed to express this and felt extremely guilty for even thinking it. Our animals become our closest friends and real parts of the family, and getting over the grief of losing them is a difficult process. We bring them into our lives knowing they'll eventually hurt us, if anything I think this just goes to show how valuable/worth it they really are.
I can tell you really loved and connected with Lokys, and I'm sure he knew this too! A loving caretaker like yourself would've made his life, however long or short, happy and fulfilling- I hope you can take some comfort in knowing while loving him no doubt hurts right now, it made his life the best it could be! I wish you the very best!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Believe it or not, I take comfort in knowing others, like yourself, understand how a pet, especially a ferret can make your heart fill with joy and break when they leave you. It’s true that it almost seems taboo to feel the heartbreaking sadness we feel after losing a beloved pet. But, communities like this are such a blessing!
He was a very special boy and quite literally one of the great loves of my life. I miss his little face and sweet presence. I know I will be with him again one day and I take comfort in knowing he is somewhere healthy and happy, waiting for the day that we can be reunited. DIP my sweet Lokys ❤️
Thank you again!
