My pet carnivore (MPC) has whole ground meats. I wondered about the percentages of bone and organs in a case like this. This below is from their site.
The average prey animal has about 10% to 15% bone, about 10% organs, and the rest muscle and fat and connective tissue. That is Mother Nature's model and therefore our model ratio for all of our Whole Ground products.
My question is are the ground meats with these percentages considered whole prey and complete? Don't know if they can guarantee the ratios? I am working towards whole prey but haven't begun yet.
BTW, if you live in the delivery area for MPC it is a whole lot cheaper than paying 2-day shipping with dry ice, etc. I have been happy with the products I have received so far.

I use Carnviora, and they are simply whole ground animals, sans head/skin/guts. Not whole prey obviously, but it works out to a good ratio. MPC sounds like they do the same thing.

Thank you, Sherry. Today, Booger turned up his nose at his soupie and went for his bone-in rabbit prior to his pred dose. He is getting a bit more exercise so eating more- hope it's enough to put on some weight! Thank you so much for all your help!

MPC sometimes provides "whole prey" ground. I know the rabbit (when available) comes with fur. The whole prey title is usually on the product.

Sherry, I'm afraid the med is not working or else he is just going to have ups and downs. I try to be as close to 12 hours each dose as possible- sometimes right on, other times within a half hour. I have been waking him up to eat more of his bone-in meals. He usually eats some, but if I didn't wave it under his nose, who knows when or if he would eat it.
He is a bit more active, but not like he was the second or third day of the lower dose. I am sad. He seemed to be doing so well and when we went to the higher dose he seemed off a bit and today I saw a little hind leg weakness. He has put on a little weight thank goodness, but his energy is not great. I give him soupie before each dose and today in between doses when he only ate his quail to a point and then turned up his nose at it.
I have ordered a glucometer from the link in miamiferret's insulinoma overview. His next appointment is less than a week. I guess this post technically belongs in the insulinoma section.

ok he is MUCH better today!! Perhaps the "ups and downs" day theory applies here. He's running the stairs more than usual and he ate some muskrat which he didn't like before all this-- hmmm

When you get the glucometer, get it calibrated then you can start taking his bg when he seems "down" and know for sure if it is bg related, or he is just tired, or feeling less active.

Thanks, Sherry! Assuming that is calibrated to the vets meter. He is having a very good day today- playing like we used to with sock in the tube. But haven't seen the war dance for a few days. Hope his BG is good and we don't need more meds. Much gratitude!
