So my Fuzzfuzz is on lasix (furosemide) and prednisone then to help with the diarrhea he is on metronidazole (transdermal). At first that was helping a little with the diarrhea but it isn't helping at all now and on top of that has started dragging his back legs a bit.
Is there anything else I can do for the diarrhea? On top of everything else he has IBD which I am worried might flare up because of the stress he is under.
I keep starting to type that I don't want to let him go yet but then I delete it because it is so incredibly selfish of me but if I can just make him a little more comfortable for just a few more days. The vert that I've been going through this with just went on vacation until next week.

So we got sucralfate for him because his diarrhea was getting bloody and now this morning he has a prolapse, fairly significant. I am, at the point right now that I don't want to give him any more medicine. He has been through enough and I just want him comfortable. We have stopped the lasix and pred for now and are only giving him his pepcid and sucralfate.
Can I apply prep H to try to give him comfort?

Oh poor lad Prep h, apply, hold him for 10 minutes. Repeat 3-4 times a day. As much as we don't normally recommend it a half tsp pumpkin twice a day will help firm up his stools so they aren't so liquidy. Sometimes it's the lesser of evils

Thank you Sherry. I ended up calling the vet (again, I swear its every day) I've not seen a prolapse this bad on any of mine before it looks exactly like www.veterinaryimagebank.com/uploads/201004/6532331fa57142171250f4ed94651da73ad18946.jpg Maybe even a bit more inflamed. They told me to stop by and pick up Dermalone ointment which I did. I will definitely try the pumpkin, that's plain canned pumpkin yes? I'm going to head back out and get some. I'm holding off on his other meds until he gets a bit of relief.
