Hello. I have a eight week old ferret that has an injured leg. I took him to the vet last night where he got xrays and the vet said he did not have any broken bones or fractures and thinks he has a soft tissue injury. My ferret is dragging the leg. I was sent home with meloxicam and told to give him a week of cage rest. Has any one else ever had a similar experience with a ferret? I am heartbroken because he just looks so sad. 😢

My first ferret Snuggles had a small fracture in her foot. We had to do the same, just rest and some pain meds. This was way back in the late 1990's. Her foot did heal nicely, but it was a sad 6 weeks of no running around. I carried her around at times while she was immobilized to keep her company. She was very happy when she was healed and could go back to her daily runs across the park. Good luck, prayers little one heals fast!

I've had a ferrets with soft tissue damage, it takes 6 to 8 weeks of quiet time. Very hard with kits. The vet absolutely certain there are no fractures? ciao

I had a kit who was shook by an older female that caused soft tissue injury---front leg with hers--- and her little chin would bump the floor when she walked. I put her in an 8 panel Marshall farms playpen. You can tighten up the space by putting hooks on horizontal bars of other panels. I don't think I did that though---it has been a while back. Also,I had a female with a broke leg from a fight with a male--- I did the same thing with her. Oh, you will feel so sorry for having to keep them closed in(be prepared)but do as vet says
