First things first I apologize if this isn’t the correct section to be asking this question but it’s my first time. I have 5 ferrets, Oliver (6 year old male), mouse (5 month old Female), Pepsi (6 month old male), and the two newest bear (7 months), and otter (10 months). They have all been getting along wonderfully but I have noticed a lot Of anxiety in the two newest and I’m concerned they were mistreated by their previous owner (they were surrendered ). Bear is very sweet but is very scared of people if he doesn’t approach you first. Although otter is also very friendly he’s extremly aggressive to faces. He has never Bitten my hands, fingers, arms, ect. However he will launch at your chin or nose and latch on out of the blue. (For example a few nights ago I woke up in the middle of the night to him latched onto my friends nose and we could not get him off with scruffing, squirting him with water or anything.) He is a very sweet boy and I love him to death but he’s bitten many peoples faces and I’m not sure what to do to stop this behaviour. I have been scruffing but is there anything else I should do? Ive only had him a little over a week and I’m aware that this will take time but I’ve never dealt with a ferret this aggressive before. Any advise or suggestions would be much appreciated!
They are also on a raw diet and have free roam of my bedroom 90% of the time if that helps at all!

It may be an idea to cage them when you are sleeping so he can't do this. That way, you can work with him on his biting issues when you are actually up and awake. And tbh, scruffing is only going to make him worse. I would use 3 m tine outs in a small empty cat carrier when he bites. He has to learn to trust, and that he won't ever be poorly handled again. Read through this, it may help holisticferretforum.com/care-and-enrichment/common-behavior-problems/ferret-bite-training/

Thank you! I will definitely start on the time outs. That page is very insightful!
