I'll be taking my ferret to my sister's to take care of him for a few days possibly a week. She also has a ferret who is older and has insulinoma. My ferret is still quite young, under a year. She's not sure how old her ferret is but maybe around 4 or 5. When she first picked up my ferret when he was 3 months she had put them both together and they seemed to get along. They ate from the same bowl. Her ferret was more interested in my ferret but they never really played with each other. My ferret was in new surroundings so he was more scared. They really didn't have a lot of time to become friends because I picked him up 3 days later.
They haven't been together in quite a while so I'm not sure how they will get along. Both are neutered males. Should I be treating this as new introduction to each other as if they have never met before?
My sister has a cage for him to stay in so I won't need to take a smaller cage. I'll bring his litter tray, hammock, towels, rice box, crinkle tunnel and a few other toys. Maybe her ferret will enjoy these toys too! Her ferret can stay out of his cage all night. He doesn't do much. I know I can't do that with my ferret and that he will need to be supervised while out. Mine will get into everything! Lol. I will also be taking all his raw meals with me for her to feed him while she cares for him.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Would definitely need to be treated as a new intro. And be prepared they may not get along.

some ferrets are fine for short play sessions. Things seem to change when they see them for the 2nd and 3rd day straight. At least that was my experience.

Well my ferret met up with my sister's ferret. Charlie jumped her ferret and then they came to a mutual understand. Her ferret is older and is moving slower, poor little guy has insulinoma. So I think Charlie realized that and didn't bug him after that initial interaction. Her ferret just went under the chair and went to sleep most times. Charlie, on the other hand was all over the place!! I think he liked his visit.
When I got back to my sister's place to pick him up he was running around the apartment. My sister said somewhere in the bathroom or bedroom. So I went in that direction called for him. He came running out from behind the bed stopped with his head cocked to one side then came running to me. So cute!! I packed him up and we came home. He slept the whole way home.
It was rather warm in my sister's apartment so he didn't eat very much of his meals that I had packed for him.

Oh that IS good news! I'm so glad they didn't have to be separated, and I'll bet he was happy when he heard and saw you again

He is now at my ferret sitter's house this time. He has climbed up on her dining room table a few times now, dug in her plant's dirt, escaped from his cage (Houdini), found a few new placed to potty and tired her out!! Her grandson also has been running around and following him. But she is enjoying taking care of him for me. She use to have a ferret but she said her's was not active like this. lol So she has her hands full. She said he is missing me. And I do miss him already!!!

Well, Charlie is back in his home with me and he is quite the happy little boy!! He did awesome at the sitter's house with her grandson! There was no biting and he got along well with everyone, well, except for the cats, he chased them! lol
I've been giving him more free run through my house too now and he's been doing real well and I've been having lots of fun with him!! He is a jumper and a climber!!!

That is wonderful for you and for him! He will get even healthier with more exercise, and much more stimulated mentally since he can now start to puzzle solve
