Hey guys! I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to make an account. I'm currently 19, but when I was around 13-14 my parents let me get two ferrets for Christmas. I still have vivid and fond memories of my two boys, Mittens and Woozle (which is where I got my username, haha!). I remember all the shoes and stuffed animals they would drag under the bed, them wagging their tails when they encountered each other in a tunnel, and I remember one of my favorite games with them, where I would sit on the top of my bunk bed and cast a fishing pole with a stuffed toy on it and reel it in for them (don't worry, I cut the hook off!). I miss them dearly.
I've recently been thinking of saving up for ferrets again. I miss my boys so much, and just thinking about them makes me want to cry. This time around I want to possibly get three, and I want to do everything right. I want to get them on a raw diet as soon as possible, make sure they get enough darkness, possibly get Deslorelin implants, save up money in case of emergencies (I might get Care Credit since my local vet accepts it). I'm also planning on building an outdoor play area for them in my yard (which is fenced in, but I want even more fence to keep my dogs out and make sure they absolutely cannot get out) with enrichment items like tunnels, digging areas, etc.
I've already written out some files for myself to look at for reference regarding Adrenal, Lymphoma, Insulinoma and IBD and I'm currently looking at information on raw feeding (looking at the main site, mainly at Rad Cat Raw Grinds and Darwin's Pet Natural Selection Raw Cat Food). I have dyscalculia which basically means I'm AWFUL at math so the percentages are extremely confusing for me, but hopefully I can figure it out *
Anyways, all my research has gotten me extremely curious about the lifespan/health issues of ferrets and I've been thinking about creating a poll and asking about their ferrets age, diet, health, etc. I'm just not sure what forum to post it in yet (besides the HF Facebook group). I'd like it to get as much response as possible
