Hello .. so I'm looking into getting a ferret this month and I had some questions concerning raw diet The ferret will be young as I'm purchasing through a pet store
I can access Chicken..beef..pork And liver and hearts And frozen mice and or rats
I'm looking to see what a typical week of meals looks like for a young and older ferret containing these meats Is it OK if they eat just these meats and how much each day and week It will be a male as well And if you can tell me which parts of the animals are the best for them I'd appreciate it I'm not certain if they come on kibble or not I have to ask to seller that question
And I need to purchase a scale and I need to know how many ounces of what meat and can I mix the meats together for eating and do they need to be seperate for freezing or can they be frozen together in the same bag
I just wanna make sure my furry will be getting enough each meal and eating the right foods
Thanks for any help

You need at least 3-4 different proteins in their diet. So taking Chicken, Beef, and Pork, you will also want to offer them the mice and rats. I say this because variety is important in bone-in meals as well, and beef and pork don't actually offer you that because the bones are too dense for them to eat. Now, because you will be including Whole Prey (they can eat the entire mouse or rat) in a Frankenprey diet, it will need to be balanced using the Balancing Chart for Alternative Meals. holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/raw-diet-the-meat-of-the-site/balancing-frankenprey-with-alternative-meals/You don't want to mix meal types, it can lead to problems, especially when you own multiple ferrets. They do have the ability and will often use said ability to pick out favorites and avoid the rest if you mix meal types. This can unbalance your menu and lead to health risks. As for how much they'll eat, you can figure this out by weighing the bowl, zero the scale, add food and weigh it then give to ferrets. At the changing time for the next meal, weigh a duplicate bowl and zero the scale, then weigh the remainders, subtract the amount from the amount weighed before feeding. Do this over the course of 2 or so weeks to get an idea of their average. If bowls are empty by change of meal time, you may not have given enough, add more next time. It's best if there's a bite or two remaining at meal change time. Adult male will average 2-5oz of food per day. Kits can eat up to 4x the amount of an adult and should always have food available to them. Factors that affect how much food will be eaten are Gender, Age, Season (more in winter, less in summer), and Health. A ferret who has been diagnosed with insulinoma should also have food available at all times to avoid crashes. I'm gonna suggest that you read through the links contained in the link below.
