My name is Kelly, I got a ferret about 6 months ago and his name is Maxwell. I also have a hedgehog, along with 2 dogs and 3 cats. He turns a year old on June 20Th. Hes 18 inches long and prob over 5lbs. I don't really know I don't have a scale. I was wondering If sense I don't want to make my own raw food if Wysong Ferret Archetypal-1™ Would be okay? Is the II any different? Thanks!

Well you need to feed a minimum of 3 proteins. Yes, wysong is fine but you would need 3 different proteins (chicken beef etc.) Stella and chewys is really good stuff, they have canone and feline formulas and quite a few different formulas (lamb, duck duck goose, chicken, salmon). Freeze dried is really expensive and when you first switch to raw he will eat a TON! so just a warning Welcome, ask questions, join in, talk with us

So I would have to get 3 different flavors of the Stella and Chewy's? Like for example one chicken bag, one lamb, and one salmon? These have to be frozen right? Is this the best ferret food out there that I don't have to make myself? Thanks in advance.

If I were going to feed a commercial diet only I'd go with Carnivora or something similiar. Which I often feed when I feed something other than mice, rabbit or chicken. The ingredients list is the easiest in the world to read. This is what it says for Duck: Duck Patties Finely ground whole duck carcass
Yeah. So just toss in some extra liver and heart, which is super cheap and voila!
I find patties very easy, you just have to be careful not to get the "dinners" which have fruits and veggies.

There are two types - one frozen and one freeze dried. Freeze dried should be fed rehydrated. They are balanced and give you the same benefits as most other diets. Whole prey is superior to all raw diets because it's Perfectly balanced and provides everything you need. So yes, you'd need 3 formulas of Stella and chewys. Avoid feeding fish more than 1-2 a week. Makes them stinky

Hi, and welcome to the forum Can't wait to see pics of your little one! As the others have mentioned, freeze dried raw is expensive, and should be given rehydrated. Most ferrets will eat one to two patties a day. And yes, it is a balanced diet. Commercial frozen raw is something else you could look into. These contain the entire carcass as well, and don't need to be rehydrated, just defrosted. These aren't as expensive as the freeze dried raw. With either of these diets, you will still need to do regular dental care, unlike raw meaty bones which naturally clean the teeth But both are far superior to kibble!
