Hi there. I was shopping at the supermarket today and found raw cow small and large intestines. I was wondering if I could try and give it to my ferrets for a larger variety of organs to eat. However, I'm not sure if it would be safe for them to ingest. They have had whole prey (mice) before and ate all of it, but this is a larger animal and I'm unsure about the different bacteria being introduced. If that makes sense??

Most ferrets will not bother trying to eat intestines at all, and more often than not, the store-bought intestines will be bleached and no longer have nutritional value remaining, so better to just avoid it.

Do you have an Asian/Ethnic store near where you live? I can usually find quite a few interesting organs for the "other organ" requirement in organ meals. I've seen duck heads which include the brain (brains can be a bit on the rich side though, so one can't consistently give that), pork uteri, pork/beef kidneys. I've also seen beef spleen somewhere, but I can't recall where right now.

Generally it will have been washed. Does it list as raw, and what colour is it?
