Reasonable list for single ferret (travelling)

I've come back in the hopes of getting some help with travelling and holidays.

2 separate trips coming up. First for 4 days, with about 6 hours drive each way, Korra coming with.
Then a holiday for 12 days, Korra staying at a friends house.

What are your must take items?
Would you take a smaller cage or just use a fabric playpen? She's not yet escaped it, but does occasionally try when frustrated... Obviously don't want her running lose in a strange place which I'm not yet sure if it can be 100% ferret proofed. But taking as little as possible would be great! 
Obviously plenty of bedding, food, medications, salmon oil to get meds down, puppy pads. What else is a must for 4 days away? First aid stuff? I've found a vet that has emergency hours, they aren't exactly specialists in ferrets by any means but neither are our 'local' (1 hour +) emergency vets and we have to manage as we can.

Second one will hopefully be easier. Friend has a cage she can use, but I will ask if she want's the playpen rather than using the one for her ferrets. Korra might be more settled if it smells just like her and not like strange ferrets.
Then the same as above, bedding, food etc. Should I send anything else? Any suggestions?
Whilst the friend has most likely got an account on here, I'm not sure how frequently she reads the forum... so I will ask, I've offered money which she has said no, and I couldn't currently return the favour (she has too many ferrets for my tiny 1/2 destroyed house) so suggestions on what to get as a thank you. There are only 4 people I'd feel okay-ish about leaving Korra with and she's my second choice (first being my partner), I'm very fussy! haha, so it's a massive favour, especially when I'm texting/phoning/IM everyday to see how she is.

1st one. Halter/leash. ID papers(proof of rabies, microchip ID etc). Will she be having a safe place to play in, or will she only be out on halter/leash? If the later, then the playpen for some playtime.

2nd. Include something that smells like you, and some rescue remedy if she doesn't have any. As well as the vet's contact info. For a thank you gift- depends on what she likes. Flowers, wine, fruit basket, etc.

She HATES any sort of lead/halter and slips out of them really easily so I'm afraid it will have to the playpen. I will need to thoroughly check any rooms before she can run around free, but I think she can have some free time in the bathroom (once I check behind the sink and toilet) but also the bedroom and hall.

I think we will take smaller (hamster) cage for her to travel down in, it's bigger than the cat carrier and she can use it there whilst we are out just to make sure she doesn't escape the playpen. She's happy enough in it, as we have used it in the past as a 'poorly' cage. Just bulky to move, but it's nice and light.

Wanted to update for anyone who's doing similar in future.

We went on the 4 day trip, but did 5 days. She traveled in our old hamster cage (Zoozone 2) which fit perfectly on the back seat (taking up all three seats) so no movement during travel. She had a bed (no hammock as she's a little wobbly in her old age + moving car didn't seem wise), watery mush, puppy pad and a couple of her favourite soft toys.
We stopped of a every 2 hours (or thereabouts) and offered water each time, only once did she have a bit each way.
We took far too much food for her, so ended up bringing lots back which we could've done without, what with the extra luggage from 3 days shopping.

We took two playpens (fold down fabric ones) and sort of attached them together, worked well for a few days then she managed to get out. No issue really as the room, hall and our room were all ferret friendly and I kept all the other doors closed at all times.


Holiday two coming up. Don't need the playpen, or a cage so packing will be much lighter, and she can travel in a cat carrier as it's not too far (about 45 mins). I'll try be more restrictive with the food I take, estimate actual meals and just take that (maybe with a meal or two extra). Friend feeds her ferrets raw so if she runs out she won't starve or have to be fed kibble or anything.
I'm picking up some more tablets, although I think really there are enough assuming she doesn't have a flare up. I will take vet details, vet knows she's going to stay with friend and been warned that if something happens Korra will end up with friend's ferret vets, not with ours. Going to leave some cash just incase, and incase she needs anything but can do bank transfer online if needed (and she's insured so can claim it back anyway).
