Hi! I am a to be ferret owner and I am going to feed them kibble (hopefully switching to raw later) but I was wondering if I can feed small bits of raw meat to my ferret as a treat? (Like chicken, beef, etc) Thx!

I give my ferrets freeze dried chicken, beef by Stella and Chewys. Vital Essatials has pork freeze dried- mostly heart. Because there is no moisture in freeze dried it does not go bad

Sure, just keep in mind what I said about timing between raw and kibble, so don't give a bunch of raw treats right before or after kibble. I also give freeze-dried raw treats to all my guys. Just bear in mind, as with all freeze-dried, it tries to absorb moisture to rehydrate itself, so never give too many of them at once. Brands I like for my FDR Treats are Orijen, Vital Essentials, Sojos Simply, PureBites, and even a bit of NV Instinct Rawboost Mixers sometimes. boozle Freeze-Dried Raw usually does still contain a very tiny bit of moisture, so it can eventually go bad, but it is shelf stable and tends to have a decent expiry date range (this can differ from product brand to brand). Most FDR comes with an 18-month shelf life, some with 12 months, and some with even less and sometimes require you to refrigerate after opening. A sniff test can help determine if one has gone rancid. Another concern with it, as with all other shelf products such as kibbles and like is that over time the nutritional value it gives can decline, but using it within the expiry range will help to avoid that.
