So, Paulie and I went to the vet today for his semi-annual check up and his first distemper booster in a year and a half (why, because I want to take him to some Motor City Ferret events to play and he has to have his shots).
Saw Dr. N. again this time (the first vet at the clinic that I liked--football holds Paulie to administer shots). He was very pleased with Paulie's health. He is for sure there is no cancerous lymph nodes in Paulie at this point(he was just way too healthy). His fat around his lymph nodes is smaller, and he believes that Paulie will likely lose the touchable nodes entirely if he continues to slim down.
And slim down he has. Since November, Paulie has lost 10% of his body weight. Instead of 1.98 kilograms, he is now 1.77 kilograms-no wonder he is fitting things again. The vet was very very pleased and thanked me for working with him. Paulie still has a lot of belly fat but it is obvious he's getting leaner. I actually think this guy secretly loves that I feed commercial raw--don't know how he is on RMBs and WP, but he just loves that my boy eats no grains and is on "the Atkins diet for ferrets". LOL. Him and Dr. M.H. are awesome.
He's hopeful I can pull Paulie's weight down, and was very amused by his very groomed squirrel baby toy in the carrier. I told him the hardest part about Paulie losing weight was that I am not a ferret, so can only play so many games and that my ferret is afraid of the outside.
Speaking of skinny, Paulie did a ninja ferret somersault into the space under one of my big bookshelves that is blocked in the front by decorative trim. Who knew he could fit between that space in the wall. It was, head check, then a belly and two feet up in the air (straight up!) then no ferret. I did have to scoot the shelf so he could get back out .... crazy ninja ferret.
