I am new to the ferret community. I have always wanted to add a ferret to our family and we finally have. He was born in February and is a Marshall ferret. We have heard thr Marshall food is like feeding you child junk food all day and we don't want that for him and want to start him on a raw diet. I am on a Fb group and some of the people told me about this forum and said it would be a great place for information on getting my little man Miller on a raw diet or the best diet he could be on. I am open to anything so please any information/feed back I would love to hear. Thank you so much for the add and information a head of time. Happy Easter to everyone.
Hi at the age he is he will eat anything lol ( kits are always hungry ) and believe it or not he could polish off three or four two ounce meals a day lol I begin with my kits at three weeks old with a meat mush ( i believe you call it a soup ) I simply beat together some ground beef bone, meal ( or ground up egg shell) 1 scoop of kitten replace milk or a tablespoon of goats milk and an egg yolk add in a little warm water and blend it all together ( if it is thicker than your baby likes add a little more water ) as the days go on add less after a week try him or her with simply ground meats then move on to chunks ( try and vary what types of meat you give ) after chunks comes meat with bone in ( wing tips ect ) then its whole prey quail mice chicks rabbit portions ect it may sound expensive but believe me its not once all the growing is done one good meal a day will satisfy some people feed two my main feed is done around tea time just before dusk sets in ferrets eat more from dusk to dawn and are also more active then if I feed my guys early they simply stash meat and eat later lol remember when your out grocery shopping to look for any reduced bargains that you can portion up and freeze for an adult hob 1 1b of ground meat = 4 days of feeding an adult female get 3oz so you pound of meat does her 5 good meals by portioning up meat you can make a very interesting diet for you pal hope this helps take care bye for now bev
As crazylady has said- at his age basically throw the food at him and jump back Here is a link to a basic menu that is balanced, as well as what each section means and examples of those meats holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/146/meat-bone-organ-weekly-menu I would print off the first post, and go to local grocery stores, butchers, ethnic markets etc and see what all you can find off the list!
