Hello everyone! I am brand new to this forum and a fairly new ferret owner. I've been doing a ton of research and I am hoping that someone can assist me with this current issue. My first kit, Sid, I adopted a month and a half ago, he is around 5 months old now. In this past month and a half, he has become huge and is extremely active, free roaming for at least 6 hours a day. I wanted to get him a buddy early on, as I read that introducing new ferrets can be stressful for ferrets that are older and established in their households. Two days ago, I adopted another male, 9 weeks old, Bjorn. Bjorn and Sid play, although I've had to step in for some minor neck biting, and I have the cage split in two currently while they adjust. Sid is almost overeating at this point, if that is possible, and Bjorn has eaten a bit, but nothing major. He is thin and tiny. I tried duck soup and I am trying to introduce a better diet gradually, as he was previously on kibble. Is it the stress of a new environment or something I need to take him in for ASAP? He is pooping, but def not as much as Sid. As I type this, Sid is eating AGAIN and Bjorn is sleeping...which he has been doing a lot since he arrived home.
Any help is appreciated. Sorry for the extensive post. I'm new to this and want to make sure I am doing the right things.

It sounds as if he is stressed to the max, new home new brother and no adjustment period. We always recommend a 2 week quarantine for any newbies brought into the home. This makes sure that you can have them checked and cleared by the vet so they do not pass on anything they may be carrying and it allows them time to settle in and get used to you before being introduced to anything else. I say vet asap anyway since you have already introduced them, but I am sure once he settles into his new home he will become more active and eat better also. This should not take more then a few days or so though.

That's a lot of stress for a wee one. New home, new brother....He's just a tiny baby. What are you feeding the wee one at this time? One thing to remember is that Bjorn is eating for a 5 month old which is going to be a large amount, whereas the kit will be eating for a 9 week old kit. Have you tried hand feeding the wee lad? How much has he consumed? I would suggest hand feeding. This will help you bond with your new little one and teach him about the food you wish him to eat ciao

Thank you for the advice! I am currently feeding Bjorn (the new kit) a mix of Wysong and Marshalls, as he was on Marshalls previously and I would like to switch him over. I am currently keeping them separate in regards to living spaces, just introducing during supervised play. Bjorn has been eating well and is doing good, but I am going to take him to the vet regardless. I appreciate the assistance.
