Does anyone know where I can get chicken hearts? I've been to grocery stores all over my city, and can only find liver and gizzards. I've even been to the Asian stores, and all they had were liver and gizzards too...
Thinking of calling my local butcher tomorrow and see if he can get some chicken hearts for me. Any of you guys have ideas of where else I could get them?

That sucks... Usually I can get chicken hearts pretty consistently at the Asian grocery store we go to, did yours stop carrying them for some reason? The bigger Asian markets will usually always carry compared to the smaller stand-alone shops.
Other than that... you could get hearts off an online provider such as Hare Today, they sell all sorts of hearts, but I believe you need a minimum of 10lb weight in products on the order before they'll ship.

I use My Pet Carnivore online for my organs. They have a very good selection of organs including several different types of hearts.

I called my local butcher this morning and he said he can get some hearts in for me! Only downside is that he can only order it in at 5lbs, so hopefully it won't cost me more than $20 for it. Going to have a TON of heart, so boyfriend and I will probably make skewers... Haven't eaten heart before, but I heard it's tender LOL

I buy in bulk, thaw, portion, and refreeze. In a deep freeze it is good for a year or more.

Lily A deep freeze would be a chest freezer, these can often go colder and stay reliably more colder than say the fridge freezer, thus items usually keep longer in them by comparison.

Lily Linda is right- I am referring to a chest freezer, whether an actual "chest" one, or an upright. They get colder than a fridge freezer can.

My fridge freezer is usually below 0 degrees fahrenheit. It's not even an expensive one, but it is kept in the garage so I installed a garage kit (basically a low temperature heating element that is installed around the fridge thermostat that ensures that if the room temperature is cold, it doesn't cause the fridge to fail to properly refrigerate both compartments).
