So, what I have heard now is it sounds like mainly chicken gizzards and chicken hearts were fed to them. It is clear either they were not fed enough or there could be some lying by those who surrendered them (Not the rescue). These guys aren't eating much. One drinks water quite a bit.
Ziggy (name will change) eats better than Panda. Although Ziggy (she) does not eat a lot. So many feedings were offered. Panda is maybe eating 2 little chunks a day. They will not touch kibble. Rabbit was offered (were told it was a favorite) at the rescue and only a little was eaten. There was a little bit of eating with chicken breast. Other things were tried and not eaten much at all. They do not like eggs. Soup was ignored. Normally They would have stayed longer with the rescue, but I have adopted one of hers before (my Itty Bitty) and she was wondering if there were just too many ferrets there for Panda. Panda gets upset easily with other ferrets. She is scared. So the hope is that they would eat better for me. They were quite active at the rescue.
Activity wise, they are hyper if on the ground. Pretty active. They do love to cuddle if picked up though. Very friendly. Yes, I am watching them for being lethargic or anything and I am going to call my vet on Monday.
Tonight they did not really eat. I tried to get them to eat a chicken soup since they had been known to eat chicken several times with the most success. It was a no go. I have some hamburger that I just picked up yesterday from the butcher (a meal for us, not them) and I opted to try that. Ziggy took 2 bites and then came back and took 3 more. Panda took 2 bites. Nothing else. Scuffing and feeding was just food coming right back out of their mouths. My other 2 ferrets are kibble fed and I did not work with them tonight.
So, Tomorrow I will start at the beginning with all ferrets. Giving them some soup. (following sources found on this forum). Then for the 2 who came as raw fed, I will give them some things we managed to get them to eat in their short time at the rescue and with me. I am ok with wasting some of it. I need them to eat. I will also weigh all ferrets, take their pictures, and start an unofficial switch thread.
Does that sound like a good plan? Then progress them all along. I am going to read through the finished transition threads. I can at least get an idea on what I am looking forward to and hopefully pick up some tips.
