Hi everyone, I had my ferret vaccinated for distemper yesterday and it went just fine. I wanted to ask how long until I can begin taking him outside for walks? The vet assistant said the vet said 1-2 weeks, but she seemed confused by the question so I wanted more input to make sure. Thanks!

I believe the immune response should be within a week or so. That being said please remember your vaccine doesn't prevent the disease from happening. What it does is give your ferret a fighting chance if it comes across it. So, if there is an active distemper outbreak in your area you may want to stay away from public spaces or keep your ferret at home until the outbreak is over (it is self limiting)
