Ellie does need coaxing but I just keep putting her near the bowl or moving it around near her so she approaches it THEN she'll eat. She just doesn't eat by herself yet. Neither does Frank but I'm close with them. Jasper on the other hand! He did so well this morning he ate loads! The rest of the day no so much! The last feed of the day I had to resort to finger feeding. It was similar last night too, he was a bit reluctant. I'm wondering if it's because we gave him a little bit of tinned mackerel (the stuff in brine, drained obviously) yesterday morning, he & Frank went whappy for It! They had a little eating competition to see who could eat the most lol. He's not eaten the same since. He is a fussy little sausage!

Yeah so a certain ferret is off his food entirely. I won't name any names but he's brown & irritating lol. Pretty sure Ellie went off her food when she 1st went on pred to so maybe he's feeling a little sick from the new meds. His activity levels are still normal tho.
Edit - It's been 12 hours since I originally posted this. Although jaspers been reluctant to eat he has eaten a small amount each meal. They've also cleaned their bowl twice today which is something that hasn't happened in a few weeks! I need to set up a camera so I can see whos eating when I'm out. It's probably ellie.

keep it up! It can take a bit for it to click that the bowl is where food comes from, but it WILL click. πππ 'he's brown and irritating'< I laughed way too hard at this. I am so glad he is eating! Even if it is a little, he is eating on his own and that is absolutely fantastic!

Another day of finger feeding for Jasper:( frank n Ellie r ok. I tried mixing egg with the mince today, Jasper ate round the mince n just had egg so hence the finger feeding! This evening though he ate from the bowl (he had to sit on my knee tho) he ate so much! & he was super active (for him anyway) this evening! It was lovely. I'm so glad I can sleep a little easier tonight now he's so visibly better. I'm getting Ellie's results back about her potential lymphoma tomorrow & I'm so, so anxious about it!

sooo i got ellies results back today... it's confirmed that shes a very fat ferret lol - it's just fat they found! Horatio (the vet) said he's satisifed the sample he took was good - that there wasn't a problem with the sample itself, & it's possible that he missed the lymphnode when he took the sample but he thinks its unlikely. so we're just going to monitor it.
MASSIVE HAPPY DANCE!!!

Still doing ok. Jaspers coming along well. Instead of licking the food hes now moved on to properly getting stuck in & eating with enthusiasm. His activity levels are awesome! I think this is the most active hes been in the 3 years ive known him. He still wont play though frank is alao a little demon. Hes dooking @ play time more than ever! Ellie isn't as great but she is a chunky little lady & she's still active enough for me not to worry

So... 1. Ferret's name: jasper 2. Ferret's weight: 735g (14g) 3. Ferret has eaten "X" amount on average per meal: he's getting better, still has to have salmon oil in the food but he's starting to eat with more enthusiasm 4. Stools on various proteins: poops are small but looking ok 5. Activity levels: increased! He's a little monkey atm 6. Weekly menu: nutriment ground raw with salmon oil on
1. Ferret's name: ellie 2. Ferret's weight: 780g (+43g) I did have troubles weighing her this time because she kept sliding off the scales, but even so gaining 30 To 40g in 7 days! Is that healthy even when they're on pred? I do also wonder if she's got her seasons mixed up, she never did get a winter coat this year. I'm not sure - never experienced that before 3. Ferret has eaten "X" amount on average per meal: she's doing well, someone is eating by themselves when I'm not there, I suspect it's ellie 4. Stools on various proteins: poops are small but looking ok 5. Activity levels: seems to be sleeping heavier than normal, but when she's up she's quite active 6. Weekly menu: nutriment ground raw
1. Ferret's name: frank 2. Ferret's weight: 905g (-24g) 3. Ferret has eaten "X" amount on average per meal: he's doing ok, sometimes he'll eat on the floor, sometimes he needs his mummy to hold him lol but yes getting better 4. Stools on various proteins: poops are small but looking ok 5. Activity levels: normal crazy self, he seems to get more hyper everyday lol 6. Weekly menu: nutriment ground raw
Jasper is booked in for his des implant on saturday. Is There anything I should expect? I might also get Ellie done this week too. I was going to get one done a month as it's so expensive but her coat quality is atrocious!! She looks like she's being fed the worst quality dog food available, I swear it's getting worse. Other than being more sleepy than usual she's ok. (The sleepiness isn't new tho, that's been going on since feb) she's not showing any signs of adrenal though. :/
I'll post the pics in the next post, they haven't finished uploading

Frank and Ellie look good. I'd like to see Jasper keep going up in weight a bit more. Which he should as he eats better. Keep it up!

I'm so sorry that Ellie and Jasper aren't playing with Frank. the one thing I generally take comfort in when my boys only want to play together, is that I get more personal bonding time with Cow. She loves when I toss plastic eggs for her to go get, fluff blankets at her, blanket/bag rides, major sock toss, make her dunk for toys in water, and other random things that pop into my head. It always makes me a bit sad when she runs up to play with the boys, tries to play with them, and they straight ignore her, but I absolutely love that she plays so hard with me. As for the implant, it can take a few weeks to show improvement. They do occasionally break upon insertion or pop back out right after the procedure. You are doing a fantastic job with these adorable babiesβ€β€β€ I hear bone crunching in your future!

Jaspers been an absolute little devil with his food the past day! He will not eat. He's driving me up the wall. It'll be interesting if tomorrow is a better day because he'll be having freshly defrosted food rather than 2 or 3 day old food. This pack I've divided by 3 this time, so I'm feeding a 3rd a time, rather than a half of a tub sat in the fridge for 2 / 3 days they'll have around a 3rd over 1.5 days.
Someone ate loads in my absence today. I keep asking the hubby to set up the web cam so I can monitor them when I'm out. I'll find out who it is then.
Ellie n Frank r fine.
I read on the hff Facebook site that a lady's ferret was anethetised to have his des implant, is that something I should ask about before kaspers appointment? He just had gas I think.
Jaspers nose is also very pale. It's always been a lighter colour than the others, it's only recently I've realised it could be a sign of a potential problem. I read that anaemia can be caused by adrenal. If that's what it is then it's the 3rd symptom he's showing - patterns in his fur, enlarged spleen & (possibly) anaemia. If that is what it is then will that get better after the implant? I won't discuss it with the vet in too much depth on saturday as it's not my usual vet we're seeing. Horatio is on holiday π I'll wait untill he's back.

Just keep at it! I would like you to drizzle a little bit of egg over the top for Jasper. should perk his interest back up. Are Ellie and Frank eating on their own more willingly? I would ask your vet before hand if they knock them out before implanting, yes. Personally, I would avoid it since it isn't necessary. If this vet won't implant without knocking them out, you are still welcome to have another vet implant. To be a 100% sure it is anemia I would get a blood test done. Blood test is the only reliable way to make sure that's what it is. If it ends up anemia from adrenal, yes, the implant would help that out.

Jaspers been better today. I think he wasn't keen on the 2 day old food, so now I'm cutting the frozen food into small chunks so I'm defrosting a days worth of food a time instead of 2.
I do try to alternate between salmon oil & egg in their food. The had an egg (split 3 ways) on Monday & Tuesday this week because of weighing them, then I clipped their claws on Tuesday too. So because of that they haven't had any egg in their food since sunday.
Jaspers eaten better today, this evening I added a little bit of egg & he ate really well. Everyone's going to bed with full tummies tonight π
