Sorry for another thread (I will delete the other) but I have so many questions... A lady near me has quail, rabbit, alpaca. I want to know what parts of the rabbit, quail and alpaca I can feed Piper...Including everything I can feed her from them...everything...Quail hearts, Rabbit hearts, Rabbit legs, Rabbit heart, Quail wing tips, etc. I need bone in meats that she will be able to eat (I will be smashing them). Also can I feed her just the yolk from a quail egg? Is it safe for her to eat these meats raw..This lady raises them, grass fed and free range and has even offered to let me come out to her farm to see the animals. What are good bone in meats from these animals?!?!

Weight bearing bones (ie. leg, thigh) of even small animals like chickens and rabbits may be too hard. The rest of those small animals are fair game. Bones of larger animals are generally considered too big/hard. My ferrets get their bone in meats chopped up, but some people give larger pieces (ie. entire chicken wings or wing sections) or the entire whole prey animal at once.

If I order rabbit ribs could I smash them up and have her eat them that way?

Rabbit ribbs are ine if recomended bones to start with (along with quail, chicken ribbs and chicken wing tips). Pork chops will be to hard, at least at the begining.
Mine get everything from chicken, duck, quail, rabbit (even heads, but i cut them on half), ... but they are experienced. With newbies i start with the above (chicken ribbs, rabbit ribbs, ...)

But she needs 7-9 bone in meals. If I give her rabbit and chicken every bone in meal(sometimes twice a day) then won't that be too much rabbit and chicken?

Is this an okay weekly menu? I feel like there is WAY to much chicken and quail but it is the only thing that I know of that is a bone in meal.I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TYPE OF MEAT/CUT TO BUY FOR A BONE IN MEAL.I have access to Alpaca(all), Beef (all), Chicken (storebought), Goat (all), Lamb (all), Quail (all). By "all" I mean it comes straight from a friend who raises them and butchers them herself so I have access to whatever I want from that animal
Monday am: Quail wing tips 1oz Monday pm: Quail wing tips 1oz
Tuesday am: Chicken Wing tips 1oz Tuesday pm: ground lamb 1 oz
Wednesday am: Chicken ribs 1oz Wednesday pm: Alpaca heart 1oz
Thursday am: Quail wing tips 1oz Thursday pm: Quail wing tips 1oz
Friday am: Chicken ribs 1oz Friday pm: .5oz rabbit hearts + .25oz alpaca liver + .25oz goat kidney
Saturday am: Quail wing tips 1oz Saturday pm: Ground beef 1oz
Sunday am: Quail wing tips Sunday pm: .5oz beef liver + .5 oz rabbit brain

Quail wings are really small, I don't think it will be difficult for her to eat the whole thing. I feed the entire quail (I buy them pre-gutted, plucked) as a bone in meal. Likewise, the entire chicken wing can be fed, but to ease her into it, you can leave out the thickest section (drumette) if she doesn't seem to want to eat it right away (chopping/smashing it into smaller pieces may help). Keep an eye out to see if her food dish runs empty between feedings, increasing the portion size a little if necessary. Her appetite may spike at the beginning and drop again after she gets used to raw food.

Quail and chicken wing tips don't have enough meat, bone in meat is just that meat surrounding the bone so that your little one isn't trying to digest just bone. This isn't good for them. My guys eat whole chicken (legs included if smashed), whole quail, duck (they can't eat the legs on this but all the rest is eaten), turkey necks and ribs (I don't feed wing tips) and the wing smashed, the whole rabbit, I feed beef without bone, pork rarely and then I also feed prey. I would suggest stewing beef instead of ground beef (better for them) ciao

Does this look better? What part of the rabbit do I use for the edible bone part? Can I give my ferret quail bone and meat? If so, What type of bone from the quail? Is there such thing as too much rabbit? Is it okay to use a protein 3 times in a weekly am/pm meal?
Monday am: Chicken leg smashed Monday pm: Alpaca muscle meat/ or edible bone
Tuesday am: Turkey neck smashed Tuesday pm: Lamb muscle meat
Wednesday am: Type of rabbit bone in meat (not sure what type of bone in meat) Wednesday pm: lamb heart
Thursday am: Turkey ribs/ or wing smashed Thursday pm: Chicken neck smashed/ or muscle meat chicken gizzard
Friday am: Type of rabbit bone in meat Friday pm: 1/2 alpaca heart + 1/4 duck liver + 1/4 rabbit brains
Saturday am: Duck bone in meat (don't know what that would be) Saturday pm: Quail meat
Sunday am: Duck bone in meat (don't know what that would be) Sunday pm: 1/2 alpaca liver + 1/2 quail heart

Quail is a bone in meal. You don't have to worry about picking out its most boney pieces for bone in meals. You can cut up like chicken if you like.
Rabbit ribs r good. Include some pieces of rabbit meat with it. I usually cut my ribs in groups of 2's or 3's. I always include some meat pieces when serving any type of rib. Does the person carry quail hearts like in pkgs? a quail heart is small--if you ever serve that as a heart meal alone , you will need more than one, I do not know how many would make an ounce or two--or how many ounces your ferret will eat in a meal.
Duck hearts are nice as well.
Will let others comment on your meal plan.

When I order my bone in meats from her I can have anything from a duck, rabbit, and quail. Are 3 proteins okay for the bone in meals? Also when i order them what part of each animal should I ask for? ribs, wings, etc.? because I really have no idea. I'll ask for ribs and duck wings but what else?

Hi get a whole rabbit ( I am guessing its skinned ) first cut off the two back legs if your feeding a male give one back leg if your feeding a female give half a back leg plus a small piece of back meat ( the back is cut into six pieces = 3 meals for either hob or jill ) the front legs and ribs I simply cut straight up the middle as ribs and the front leg dont have much meat on duck is nice and rich one side breast is one good meal for a hob or two for a jill the carcass can be split into portions and fed with other meats without bone eg stewing beef every part can be eaten and heart is a good meal liver only feed once per week I always feed chicken the day after liver as it helps firm up poop duck necks or chicken necks also make up a meal I would get a selection and simply portion up giving something different each day ( this ensures they get different vits from meats ) my guys love lambs tongue or any lamb at the moment as they like the fatty meat to help them put on winter weight if your worried about calcium ( which is basically why you give bone in meats ) hang on to your egg shells wash and dry then grind down to a dust ( you can simply double bag and roll with a rolling pin ) store in a air tight jar and every meal time place a good pinch on there food your providing the bone element when there is no bone in england I can get hold of bonemeal even though my guys get bone in meats those too are dusted with bonemeal lol take care bye for now Bev
