hey! So I finally made an order from Hare-today, and got a good variety so that I can wean my ferrets completely off of chicken for awhile! I have whole, skinned and gutted rabbit (with essential organs),semi-dressed quail, duck necks, whole ground cavvie (would've gotten it just whole but my mom isn't a big fan of that, so I can only get away with feeding whole prey mice so far. She settled on ground up guinea pig, even though I know some nutrients are decreased due to grinding, like taurine for example.)
And lastly, I got beef lung and it is huge. So I imagine it will last awhile.
So I felt like I should ask: exactly how beneficial is lung? I bought it, remembering that it can be very nutritious, but not quite sure where I heard that from.
Also, does it count as an organ or a muscle meat? It doesn't secrete anything (I think) so probably just a muscle meat ?
But most importantly, is feeding too much lung dangerous? Should I be cautious when feeding it, like I am with liver?
Thank you! 😊

The raw does provide a lot of goodies such as b12,vitamin c, iron and selenium---- (percentages below are for 4 oz and the percentages for human daily allowances)but still gives you a good picture. A low calcium/ to phosphorus ratio---with ferrets needing a 1:1 ratio or slightly more calcium-but that is what bone in meals are for. Like what others have said in mentioned thread. Ah, there's Winnipeg's butt! He likes beef lung a lot. HAD to rinse all the chunks I cut in a big bowl of cold water to get the cow's last meal out of there, though.
