I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere in this forum, however I have searched and searched to no avail. My girlfriend and I just brought two furrybutts into our family and to help enrich their environment we made them a rice dig box. We bought long grain white rice as suggested on this forum however I noticed their is a fine dust coating on the rice. I know inhaling dust from litter isn't good for ferrets, so I was wondering if I should wash the rice before I let Pipino and Capone play in it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

That dust is either starch or a vitamin dusting (just like on crickets for lizards, they dust the rice with minerals and vitamins to ensure people to get enough of certain things!)
Washing it will cause it to become slightly tacky on the outside and it'll dry much more susceptible to stink-holding. I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe try pouring it all into a massive bath towel, and rubbing it around to get excess dust out?

Okay I'll give it a try. Thank you for your input!

I have never rinsed the rice and have had no issues for them thankfully
