Our two boys love to wrestle about. Which is fab, until Furzy starts squawking like a banshee!!! No blood or fur has been lost as yet but when can you tell they're no longer playing about?

When one runs, hides, and refuses to come back out but lays there shaking/trembling. When one defecates in fear while running away to hide. When lots of blood(ie from gashes) is spilled. When one has a literal strangle/suffocation hold on the other's throat and won't let go.

Chances are they're just playing at killing each other. I don't know how many times I'd done the panic run to the bedroom because I could hear Lady "B" screaming like a banshee. You'd swear she was being murdered....no she was kicking Attila's butt and giving him the devil. How that little she-fert could scream that loud with a mouthful of scruff I've no idea. ciao

Same here lol. Lucrezia dragging Vicent and screaming, or Sinnead trouncing Zeus while yelling at him. They can get loud.

It's awful listening to them! Well, mostly Furzy shouting at Pepsi.
Thankfully they haven't played at killing each other through the night lol

LOL....if the boys are playing the mating game over here chances are they need a DES implant, for adrenal, poor mites. It's been a long season for the intact kids though. The boys are still playing and the girls are still in the game too, so if your ferrets are intact, they may well be still doing the hob thing :face: I'm putting up the curtains and shutting this sexfest down. It's time to put those bits away for the season (my guys usually have tucked it by the end of July....it's now the end of Aug and my girls are still playing...give me a break) ciao

I can totally supersize empathise with you. We've had Scamp over a month and Yoshi still aint accepting him. It got vicious last night after couple days of relative calm. It might take a while. Our Scamp and all the rest are neutered, but he's the youngest by almost 4 years, and he's from a different mill. There IS poop and puncture wounds, so for now we'll have to keep them separated. I was tempted to get video last night, but it was so brutal. Maybe I could have filed it for future ferret owners who are thinking about adding a kit to an existing business, lol.

No, they shouldn't be. Sounds like it's kit rough stuff. I will let Bev fill you in as far as season, as they're not quite the same over here as in the UK ciao

Hi In the uk Breeding season normally starts around feb to september as 14-16 week olds they will be doing the hey this is a fun game big ferrets do this lol ( I have some the same age doing just this lol one has a few teeth marks on his shoulder the other has non guess who is playing the girl this week ! ) lol I often keep males in pairs ( siblings ) each year you get the odd few scuffs on the shoulder or neck simply cover it with sudocreme ( they hate the taste and tend to leave it alone its also antiseptic so it will help heal any breaks in the skin hope this helps take care bye for now Bev

Haha pepsi (older one) seems to grab furzys neck and sort of try and speed bump on top of him! 😳
7 months!?!?! Wow! Thats a long time! Is it a hard process to get through their first season still being intact? Would i possibly have to seperate them?

Yes, intact males will often kill other males(or try to), and can actually rape sprites, or at the very least injure them. At least in the first season. Some calm after that.
