Scamp had 2 milestones today. 4 months old AND 3 lb!!! These aren't the greatest pics, but a tsp of salmon oil doesn't last very long in front of him, amd so far he's not a poser. With Lola, who is a tick over 1.5 lb. Not a great comparison, as she is sooooo fluffy. Scamp is mostly muscle.

-Just so everyone knows, our other ferrets are doing ok. We've just been preoccupied by Scamp, as he is still quite a job to handle. Rosa is showing signs of adrenal, slowly losing fur around her pelvic area. But her BG is maintaining, so we're thinking about an implant for her. We've just never had a ferret survive much longer than a year after dx with insulinoma. Yoshi may have ceded his crown to Scamp, as he doesn't attack him anymore, but Scamp still sometimes wants to stir the pot. He may just want to play, but he plays too rough for the girls, and Smokie/Mogli just lets Scamp drag him around. Lola doesn't take any crap. She's the only ferret that still has any authority over the Scampster. Scamp is into everything. Nothing is safe. He jumps onto chairs, not climbs. He leaps off of the bed and lands on his feet. He's non-stop when he's awake. He does seem to be settling into 2 2-3 hour play periods like the rest, and hopefully soon we can let him and Yoshi free roam together. I measured him tonight at 18 inches, from his nose to his anus, plus a 7 inch tail. Roughly. If I could get him to sit still he'd probably be a little longer. The good news is that he bites less, even nips less, and even kissed me once. It's been a little stressful, but maybe there's a light in the tunnel. Video below. Bucket is 15 inches tall, 1/3 full of water. Another of his favorite games. www.flickr.com/photos/87221555@N07/29782851581/in/dateposted-public/

Looks like he is great fun:) He seems to enjoy that turtle pool.
I do have a horror with water buckets. I keep my mop buckets in tub or just use sink when I am mopping floors. I found one of dog's pups floating in her five gallon bucket of drinking water. We changed how we watered her with the puppies around(of course there was no supervision).
Are both of your turtles still alive?

With Rosa look at it this way- her odds of fighting the insu for a longer time are that much better when she doesn't have to fight adrenal as well

We had Rosa and Pandy at the vet this morning. This and another vet we've talked to locally, plus one who has participated in des studies with Dr Wagner, believe that des is a lot more effective as a preventive than as a treatment. Mogli seems to have responded well, as his tail has grown back, and Pandy has recovered her fur as well. The darn things are $208 ea through our current vet. As for the insu, she said that it's not necessarily good putting a fert on pred, which has nasty long term side effects and may itself decrease life expectancy, unless a fasting BG is below say 50. Rosa's was 92 this morning, non-fasting, so we will probably at least wean her to a lower dose. I'm taking them both back later to get a fasting number.

This morning I woke up to Scamp in my night table drawer, wide open. I did not leave it open. Tonight he barfed up an earplug. Half an hour later I found him on top of the FN. It aint like I dont have enough stress already...
