Zeke's last poop had something weird looking in it, so I had to dissect it It looked like tiny chunks of bone, bone slivers. Is this normal? SHould he not be digesting this before it comes out still whole??

It's not uncommon and not to worry. Sometimes they don't get the bone digested as well as possible or the pieces are bigger than their fast digestive track allows. They may have eaten more bone than necessary, they may have swallowed larger pieces, ferrets who are new to raw sometimes are not as economical about digesting bone. ciao

I had a couple who did the same thing at first. They started digesting it better as time went on

When I first started feeding my dogs raw they pooped great chucks of bone with the accompanying strained expressions you'd expect. As time went on they learned to chew things up better and their systems adjusted to cope better with the bone they eat and now their poos seem to contain small powdery pieces of digested bone rather than recognizeable chunks. I guess the same thing would go for ferrets. Freca has been raw fed since a kit so I never went through the same transition with him that I did with the dogs. It's been found that raw fed dogs (and I guess ferrets) suffer much less from problems with impacted anal glands than those fed on processed food as the bone /fur/feathers in their stools help the glands empty naturally.
