Update on my little Hera. She is doing well. I have her in a play pen for now. I hate putting her in a cage because she was probably constantly caged and never allowed out now she has a play pen to be in. I put tunnels and boxes and an igloo for her in there. She has balls and toys to play with even a bobo. She has a vet appointment Thursday at 3:00 for a BG reading and wellness exam.
Her hind end weakness has gotten slightly better believe it or not. I don't know how much food they were feeding her. She still sleeps a lot but I think I am getting her on a good schedule and shes being more active. I have put her on a soupy type soft kibble form and she seems to be eating better. Tonight I am trying a turkey grind soupy to get her transitioned to raw hopefully it goes well. I really hope she likes it and its a fast switch just for her healths sake. But I don't mind if she takes longer than usual.
I spend as much time as I can with her, so her and I can bond. I try to divide my time up with my other fuzzies too. They don't seem to mind that I am with her for a couple hours a night and morning. She really likes her shoulder blades to be scratched. Her tail poofs like a bottle cleaner lol shes always happy to see me too which is good. Her poops are still nice and solid even with switching homes. I don't think she missed a beat changing scenery actually.

Another update. She now weighs 1 lb 5 ounces. That is 2 ounces since Sunday night June 26, 2016. I am amazed.
I also just fed her soupy she ate probably about .5 ounce of soupy that's with water added not .5 ounce of meat then water. It was extremely easy to get her to eat it. I finger fed her a couple times now she eats off the spoon. Yay!

Update! Hera has gained more weight. She is now 1 lb 6 oz. She has been on raw since Tuesday I beleive. She has eaten turkey since tonight. We have changed proteins and are now giving her duck with some beef heart chunks mixed in.
She went to the vet yesterday and had a wellness check up and a BG check as well. He said she palpated fine he didn't feel any abnormalities. She checks out good to him except her BG was reading 52. Which is unfortunate but she is tough and we will get her on the right track. He gave me options for her insulinoma. Either surgery or pred. I chose liquid pred so I am waiting to hear from them about it being sent out to me. Right now I am controlling her BG with frequent feedings every two hours or so. Next week I will be able to order the Alpha track reader so I have it on hand. Also unfortunatly her vulva has gotten a little more swollen so I talked to the vet about her implant and he will call me probably Tuesday about prices. She graduated to my room so I can have a constant eye on her since she got a good report from the vet.
Her and I have been bonding alot. She cuddles with me in bed and on my lap. She gives me goodnight kisses or when I am going to leave. She is such a sweet little animal I love her to pieces. Freya and Nala both don't mind her. I just let Hera meet my more gentler ferrets because she's still a little frail. But overall her energy is doing better. She still sleeps a lot but I feel with being implanted and the pred she will feel much better.

Glad your little one is doing better under your care and has taken to raw. Good for you She is doing amazing!! I am so proud of her. She's eating good. She takes to new proteins. I am really happy for her. She gets out time so she can move around my room and explore. She has met Freya and Nala but doesn't know what to do with them. She's a sweet heart. Her and I cuddle a lot together and I get many kisses.

How nice.
The ferret I got off craigslist during spring is a darling also. She is the first ferret to let me hold her and go to sleep on my lap while rubbing her head. Would have thought she was sick, had not i read on forum of others like that.

I haven't updated in a while. Hera is doing well. She's gaining weight she's eating a good amount. She is even playing like a normal ferret. She's still really unsure of Nala but they played for a good 20 minutes together till Hera was making screaming noises and I decided not to stress her out to much. We finally received our pred for her. Vet prescribed .25ml twice a day and I will be starting it tonight. I am super excited.

Hera is still doing good. She is bright eyed and she loves being out to explore and take naps in the room. I try not to take her out of the room to much because she gets extremely scared and shakes when she sees the front door I assume she thinks we are taking her back. Poor thing breaks my heart when she does that (that's why I think she loves being here). She has had 3 doses of pred so far. She enjoys the bubble gum flavor a little too much lol Unfortunately, I have found her lymph nodes in her neck and there is one or two that are swollen. I will be contacting my vet when they open on Monday to discuss options and where we will go with this.

Update on Hera.
What aa lovely animal she is. She cuddles in bed with me and she makes my day better. As many know I have 4 other little ones (which I love more than anything in the world) but my bond with Hera is something completely different it can't be described.
She is doing exceptionally well on raw. She is doing amazing on her pred. She has been on it since July 8th, so its been about 3 weeks so far. Her coat is still pretty soft. Nothing compared to my younger ones but I have decided between the pred, her being old, and not being taken care of previously that its to be expected.
I have all the funds to get her implanted and the unexpected happens my vehicle dies on me so I have to wait to make sure its fixed before I make a 3 hour trip to Salt Lake City for her implant and second vets opinion on her health and her lymph nodes. Wish us luck on that!
Other than that Hera weighs a good 1 pound 10 ounces so she has gained 7 ounces being with us.
