Just got a call from my vet about a ferret who is very dehydrated and she wants to change the ferrets diet. I am waiting for her to call me back with more details bc I don't have any. All I know is that she (ferret owner) doesn't want to do a raw diet. I know, I know but what can I tell you.
I'd like to see if she would be willing to do FDR or grinds but I have no idea what her budget is for this ferret. So, I have the list of (kibbles, ugh) that I will send her but is there a master list of things to completely avoid in foods like raisins, peas, onions, garlic, fruits, sugars, grains, etc. Also, is the Wysong still out b/c of stones? I also don't see the Nature's Variety Raw Instinct Boost Bites on it either, this ones on the list of good right?
I do have 2 stores here that carry Stella & Chewys and a few other high end foods. (yeah). However, they would still need 4 proteins so the duck, turkey, chicken and rabbit, right?
Im going to try my best to convert her but I can only do so much. If she's completely against raw, I'd at least like her to get the best possible kibble for the poor little guy.
Thanks everyone!

Comprehensive list of ingredients to avoid: anything that's not raw meat. Definitely avoid anything with peas - high in cysteine and contributes to kidney and bladder stones. The first several ingredients (preferably first 5) should be meat, and any plant matter should be as low on the ingredient list as possible.

Unfortunately all kibble in general is a must avoid. In m opinion. Oh yes, I've been building a HUGE list. Not only of the bad stuff, but of the toxic and even the good stuff. A majority of my list is kibble related ingredients, But I also included ingredients from commercial treats, and even things such as shampoo. Feel free to send her my entire list if you like. I've been compiling this list for ages and have done all the thorough research, I have even linked a majority of my references at the very bottom of my list. The list itself is still growing, and will continue to grow, so I consider it still a work in progress. I hope it is helpful. Books I recommend for your Vet and or ferret owners. 1# Raw Meaty Bones - Dr. Tom Lonsdale. 2# Buyer Beware (the crimes, lies and truth about pet food) - Susan Thrixton. 3# Food Pets Die For (shocking facts about pet food) - Ann N. Martin (International Authority on Pet Food)
