So I have learned from a page I am on for ferrets that you can use calcium pills just like you would use bone meal or egg shell. I mean like the human grade pills. Does it act the same way like keeping the poops solid and does anyone use this vs the other two?

bone meal and egg shell is meant for the soup recipe which isn't meant for long-term use. Remember the soup is supposed to be a transition tool, not a long-term meal plan.

Right I know that. None of my ferrets are on the soupie more like I was just asking if someone didn't want to use egg she'll and couldn't find bone meal someone told me we can use calcium pills. Was just wondering if this was okay to use. It's more of a just in case, future reference type thing.

Calcium pills? Human? what type or brand? Our calcium needs are entirely different to the ferrets. This is not something that we could advocate without knowing more information. ciao

I thought our calcium needs were completely different. Though do they even sell calcium pills for dogs and cats?

They also sell ferretvite for ferrets...but its really bad for them. Unfortunately, commercialism doesn't mean it's good for our pets. I've read product lists for things like cold remedies for ferrets that actually carry herbs that are toxic to ferrets, seen recipes using EOs for cats. Just because it's sold for our pets doesn't mean the manufacturer has our pets best interest in mind...usually it's their bottom line ciao

I understand. This is why I made this thread because there are people out there giving human calcium pills. This is why I ask questions to clear things up and hopefully have it cleared up for other people.
