My mom is not the best mother OR animal owner. She feeds the cheapest food, doesn't clean up after them, doesn't train them, and doesn't play with them.
She has 2 outdoor cats, one of which is very needy and loving and terrified of everything, because she wouldn't clean the litter box (only one for both) and they decided to potty in a cleaner spot. Their poop smells HORRENDOUS because of the crappy food she feeds them. It seriously smells like REALLY bad smelling DOG poop. And when I was in a different state, she overfed my cat beyond what anyone could thing was ok, and my cat, which has always been indoors, was infested with fleas.
She has 2 outdoor dogs, one of which was supposed to be my brother's, which she said she'd give away if he didn't take care of her. He didn't take care of her. I took care of her for the first 6 months before saying enough was enough. Both dogs are terrible on leashes, both dogs eat crappy food with mostly corn meal, both dogs are emotionally neglected. She had a third, from my childhood, Ginger, but instead of making her an indoor dog to cut down on her pain and allergies to fleas and having to fight the others for food, she was left outside until she barely had the ability to move and was put down.
She has one horse, Pepper. Pepper used to be on the same property. Then my mom decided that she could keep her horse on her friend's land because that friend (Judy) recently got her first horse (a Percheron named Lucy with NO respect and very little ground training), Lucy nearly killed herself on an unsafe fence post (that was never corrected). She STILL has Pepper on that property after two accidents with Pepper, one that could have broken the horse's back, and Judy allowing some stranger's kids ride on her BAREBACK (she'd never been ridden bareback) after Judy got rid of Lucy. Then Judy let another stranger interact with Pepper, after my mom said no. My mom keeps saying "I need to bring Pepper home" "Pepper needs to come back" blah blah blah, but she never does. Instead, she goes and rides ANOTHER friend's horses and decides she needs to talk to them about buying a 5 year old that's NEVER been touched (aka needs lots of training)! I told her "But you have Pepper"... And what does my mom say??? "Well Pepper's 23 years old, and she'll be fine out at Judy's if I got another horse." Bear in mind, horses can live to be over 30 years old.
The last 5 year old she bought, which was meant to be mine, Autumn, was sold exactly ONE month after she bought her. On my birthday. Autumn was put in an unsafe pen, which she jumped out of, got tangled, and twisted her gut. She was put down the day she was supposed to be picked up by her new family.
Long story short, my mom is NOT a fit animal owner, and I don't know what to do, with her wanting this new horse. I want to cry because I can't handle playing with the dogs because they're untrained and one is WAY too big and strong to NOT be trained. I want to cry because Taffy (older outdoor cat who has always disliked me) is constantly injured and Fluffy(younger outdoor cat, I call her Babycat) is so skittish she cowers when you try to pet her. I want to cry because Pepper (bratty horse who will stretch her neck out for you to pet... when she's 10 feet away from the fence) nearly DIED last week and my mom is all talk about keeping her safe.
What can I do? If I call the Humane Society, all animals on the property would be seized, including mine because I can't move for another month. They'd also probably take the Landlady's animals (same property), and the Landlady would blame my mom, then my mom brother and stepdad would be kicked out and probably homeless. If I confront my mom any more than I have, I don't know how things would turn out because my mom can be quite explosive.
