Hello all, as some of those who have seen my posts in other threads may already know, I have a deaf boy who is in need of his mom and dad to know how to play with him better!
He's not big into towel rides, he tries but doesn't really get into it, and he mostly just walks around and it makes me feel like a bad ferrent.. any ideas on good things to help him encourage play? He did recently discover the outdoors and loved it! So I'm thinking some outdoor type textures and such.

Right now Stewies favorite thing are cat teasers, he loves to chase them. Of course all those nice noisy toys I have for the others are of no interest to him but he does like the teasers. I'm also finding that he likes differently textured things. We are getting ready to get him a cat mat this week that has motion censored lights in it. This will have to be for only supervised play but since he liked chasing a laser light he might enjoy the mat. Here is a link to the mat: www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=22423&cmpid=02cseYY&gclid=CMTR3cO9lswCFYIfhgodLX4GqQ

My ferret Caz is deaf, and he loves playing with mats. We have this mat that goes in the shower, and he has been having a great time playing with that. He also loves his dig box, and chasing dangled toys (like a cat teaser.)

My girl Lucy absolutely loves her dig box. She plays in it about 5 times a day, lol. She also likes wrestling with the others or with me. But it's hard when my others love to play with plastic bags and she can't hear them

You may have found it...outdoors?...he's an explorer. Not all ferrets like rough and tumble play. This seems to confuse not only ferrants but sometimes ferret playmates too. Some ferrets is all about the "following the nose". I've had a number who do not seem to have any clue how to play or interact but give them a new smell, new space to explore and they're happy. Finding and accepting that this is his stimulation makes you a good ferrant, not a bad one ciao

My Marty was both deaf and blind, and he just liked exploring for the most part. Sometimes he'd wrestle with Layla, but that was more for her than him. He just did it to make her happy I think.
