Hi folks
I got hold of some pigeons from a hunter that he shot using lead shot. He's fed his ferrets for years never digging out the shot out. I'm of the ilk to take the shot out before feeding my ferrets the pigeons
Thoughts please?

I would be as well. One pellet accidently swallowed would be enough to cause a blockage.

I got some wild turkey from a hunter, Without knowing there was bird shot in it. I did not discover the bird shot until the next day when cleaning the cage. I then Made sure that all bird shot was removed before feeding any more to the ferrets.
Never saw any in ferret poop.
The bird shot was tiny. about the size of coriander seed. I don't think it could cause a blockage, But still was not going take any chances and made sure it was all removed. I think it was copper not lead.
If it is indeed lead I would be hesitant to feed it due to the possibility of lead poisoning.

I would dig them out. They might leave them, or they might broke a teeth on them or they can cause blockage. In my opinion, it is not worth a risk.
