Good luck with your finals! Once you are doing the full frankenprey menu yes ground beef once a week would be considered one of their muscle meals and will meet the one red meat meal a week recommendation. For now while we are still transitioning you can substitute the ground beef for the chicken in the basic recipe and feed that mixture to them once a week. CGH can be butchered up and you can start with the wings and ribs. You can put aside any extra muscle meat to be used for another meal. You want the bones to be meaty but you do not want to feed a thick breast with the ribs. Does that make sense?

I think so yeah. Should i keep doing chunks or should i try and introduce the CGH now?

They are taking the chunks easily now? You are not giving them any soup? What size chunks are they eating?

I haven't given them soup since Saturday morning. Minnie does seem to have more trouble chewing but it seems to be getting better and better the more she gets used to it. Binxie has no issue chewing she takes whatever chunk you give her and chews it up just fine. but i am worried about them eating litter they both for some reason prefer to eat the chunks that are sitting in the litter rather than take fresh chunks off the plate and i take them out of the litter and they both just stick more chunks in there. The problem is when they pull the chunks out to eat there is litter stuck to it and they just chew at the meat anyways and i dont want them to get a blockage from eating the litter with their meals.
i will post a picture of their meals to give you an idea of the typical chunk sizes.

Those are good size chunks! Minnie will get the hang of it for sure. We can def start trying them on small bones now. Celene has put together a great video on how to smash bones for beginners, please click the link and check it out! :goodjob: Smashing Bones for BeginnersAs far as the litter thing goes if you watch them they should be eating around the litter. What kind of litter do you use? My crew does the same thing with their favorites but I use paper pellets so it is easy for them to knock off the pellets while they eat.

Can't wait to see how they do with the bone! I am asking around about the litter thing. Have you ever thought about trying a feeding den for them?

Minnie and Binxie really liked the cornish game hen! they both ate it no problem at all they both got a little chocked up near the end but other then that it went well. All i could give them were the two chicken wings i couldnt get the ribs out without breaking them and the parts i did the ferrets wanted nothing to do with. can i give them the entire wings or just the wing tips?

You can give them the entire wing. You can actually give them the entire bird! If the really liked it that much and did well with the bones, they should not have any issues with any part of a CGH. Ohhhhhh I'm so excited, they are progressing! :boing: :goodjob:

do i still have to chop it up like in the video or can i now just give them a whole wing now?
the only other thing is they didnt eat any of the red meat when i gave it to them idk if it was because they were full or what but they didnt touch it.
I'm excited to i thought minnie was going to put up more of a fight but she has been eating everything and binxie just takes whatever i give her which is awesome!

You can give them the whole wing. If they do well with then you are good to go. How long was the meat left out for?

okay great! I put the meat in there around 6 at night and took it out at 7 in the morning so about 12 hours. They basically ate morning meal, they each had wing tips and a bit of the top wing and thats it they didnt touch any of the red meat meal that night. Then i took it out and they ate their breakfast which was CGH meat that i cut up.

Ok so if they are eating the bones with no problems, I would like you to write up a weekly menu for them following the frankenprey guidelines. Then I want you to use that menu for them next week.

Also have you ever ordered for any of your meat online? I wanted to know if you think its a safe source.
what i have so far is this:
Monday am: Chicken Wings pm: Chicken Gizzard Tuesday am: Chicken Wings pm: Chicken Thigh Wednesday am: CGH Chicken (whole) pm: Chicken Heart Thursday am: Turkey necks pm: Chicken Wings Friday am: CGH (Whole) pm: 1/2 chicken heart + 1/4 Chicken Liver + 1/4 other organ Saturday am: Turkey Necks pm: Ground Beef Sunday am: Chicken Wings pm: 1/2 Chicken liver + 1/2 other organ
I am going to the asian market tomorrow to see if they have organ options since i am having difficulty with my current butcher he says he's unable to give me any other organ other than liver. I also need to find a place that sells turkey necks as well. But i should have it sorted by tomorrow before i go to work hopefully!
